Your job rarely ends when the last slide fades out. Often the main task of the presentation is to start a new journey. Did you end with a strong summary and action plan to facilitate that? Is their understanding in alignment with your clarion call? When you take questions, be ready to answer without having to hunt for “that” slide. If you do not yet have the answer, make it clear when you will have and how you will convey the answer. Did your presentation contain important definitions or statistics that just cannot be misinterpreted? Make sure your team distributes those handouts before the questions start. The presentation is just another step in your communication journey with your audience. Make sure it ends to facilitate a new beginning or reinforce a goal.
